Sophie's 3rd bday - Fairies !

Sophie's 3rd bday - Fairies !

So lil Miss S is turning 3 this week, so here is a sneak peak from her requested "fairy" theme party - it poured rain for days leading up to it, so to be safe we emptied the furniture out of a room and created a lil fairy place, maybe next year I will build the bamboo and muslin structure outside ????? 

We had so much fun, painting fairy glitter on our nails, putting on girly tattoos, dressing up with rings, bangles and tiaras, played pass the parcel (well sort of lol) and ate lots of goodies including the VERY colourful magic marble bday cake, yes Soph was let loose with the food colourings !!! 

Soph also choose all of the goodies we had to eat - yes most things were pink, as is most of our house since her arrival lol
It was a lovely day and the girls looked so sweet, as did Fairy Linc my nephew !!!

Thursday:

Ive learnt to be careful what you asked for: wanted a super strong willed, independent and clever woman - thank you universe, I certainly got what I asked for !!! 5.30am tantrum, 15mins of new tack-tic, ignoring til it gave in - Sophie Alice, you may be a diva, but please learn that mumma is the biggerst diva in this house !!! Update, this has worked, no more early am LOUD screaming tantrums since, just got to tackle the few day time ones and the ears that have seemed to have turned off now !!!

Evie tried really cold apple and pear puree, its good ! her mouth kept opening like a little bird on a feeding frenzy - so addorable !!! Gee wizz, its amazing the difference between premmie babies and full term babies, they have so much more strength just to do everything !!! But wow the power of premmie bubbas - little determined people !!! I love experiencing everything with my two very different girls !!!

Raining today, so sorry environment the dryer is going -man the washing in this house

Friday: 

Moo, Evie the foreman and I built a fence to keep her dogs, yep the dogs have arrived too !!! This house is so full its about to burst !!! Lucky I know how to build stuff, cause obviously Amanda Nolan didnt pay attention to dad's look after yourself classes lol - she so thought she was clever knocking in the posts - ha funny watching her actually 'build' something !!! Thank you Porshia for knocking over my just about to bloom bulbs in the pot, and the lettuce seedlings Soph was growing !!!!

 

Worm wraps for tea - Lincy and Soph,  yep can you even imagine - 2 minute noodles rolled in a tortilla wrap hhmmmmm yummy???? these children are weird on a Friday whatever for tea evening !!! at least dessert was apple !!! I dont actually know how that happened and who started that idea ???? Just because we gave you some tortilla wrap to keep you quiet while the noodles cooked, didnt mean you wrap the noodles in it ???? What makes kids minds work ??? funny little dudes !!! 

This is how we get dinner cooked at my place !!! and know where the munchkins are !!!

Date night with me and Pauly - Baskin Robbins, hot chocolate and night light view of Gold Coast from up high - beautiful - in the work van, nyyce - well our significant others were.... ASLEEP...... he he he like father like daughter......

Sat: washing washing washing still washing and cleaning

Dinner at sizzler with Leigha, Ash, Troy and Bump - dessert bar yep mousse and lollies of COURSE, first time we let Soph have anything like it, and help herself - should have seen her face !!! Actually you should have seen Leigha's and mine too lol hhmmm yeh  chocolate mouse is sooo still my fav dessert, All good, we only had salad for tea, so that counteracts dessert right ??? he he he followed by hanging in the bar at the flash place they were staying with hot chocolates and baby chinos - yep all feeling rather over full and sickly, just as we had hoped lol

 

Sunday: Fab four picnic down at Emerald Lakes under a lovely cool tree, by the pond - fish and chips - awesome homemade potato scallops and calamari, loving the spring time

Evie did her first wee on the big loo !!!! We started the 'sit on the little seat each day' for fun to train, and clever girl did a wizz !!! Lets see if I can beat Soph's record in never changing a dirty nappy from the time she was 11 months old ...... hears hoping !!!! Go Evie....!!!

  Bits and Bobs:

So much Images of Life by Lisa work to do, one image at a time - I will get there - its a tough gig being a full time mum with a nearly 3 year old, a 5 month old - a partner and house and garden to look after - let alone a business to run. I love my work so much, and cant wait til I can get back and do it more, but for now little bits will keep me happy, my family comes first, sleep seems to be coming last, a few early nights in a row then Ill get back into it !!!

Hot chocolate - a new found addiction - loving the BOMB of melted marshmellow through the takeaway spout at the end !!! stop it !! Im banning myself !! since my date night with Paul, Ive had 2 more !!!

Grateful moments: grateful for spring time, it renews your soul, not to hot and not to cold, just perfect !

That when I hug my soft cuddly baby Evie and think, gosh I want another baby, Sophie does something as a 2.5 year old does, that makes me see sense lol !!! but oh how babies make your heart melt !!!

Something learnt today: I really love Sophies little teeth, and Evies chunky legs !!!

Priceless moments:  

1: got Soph up from her sleep and carrying her like a sack of potatoes walked to turn off our 'rest time' relaxation music playing on the Mac and Soph randomly said, I love cake - I do too I said, wondering why did she say that - then I realised I had the cafe cake holder on the bench with the piklets in it for afternoon tea lol funny critter - hint hint mummy lol  

2: me to scott : do you wan to pack the pram and take the girls on the train saturday, Sophs never been on a train, maybe go to the city for lunch ? 

scott to me: yeh maybe

sophie to evie: "evie do you wanna pack the pram and go to sydney on thomas " 

OMG soo funny - how did she think city=sydney and train=thomas lol!!!

3: Soph: " I want to do dressups now" Me: "really" Soph: " Yes ill put them on you and take a photo" lol crack me up !!! we were princess cats, well there are two sets of cat ears and two tiara's in the dress up box so thats what Soph made us, oh and we had wings - so flying princess cats !!! that imagination, she is a classic !!! xxx  

ps its rather hard to take pics on your phone of yourself and your 2.5 year old in ears, wings and tutus being princess cats let me tell ya !!!

Something I loved today: Watching Evie laugh when Sophie laughed, and everytime Soph laughed Evie giggled ... Sophie playing with Evies toy to make her laugh more, just like I do - Oh dear children are definatley products of there parents and environment, note: always try to be a perfect parent ;o)

Miss S: Put socks on herself, and though it was a high five moment !

Miss E: rolled off her play mat onto the tiles, like 1 metre a way in 5 seconds - cheeky munchkin

Scott: got a head cold ;o(

Lisa: wishing for my tidy and quiet house back, but still loving Moo, Paul, Linc and Co

Oh, thankyou quiet

So you may or may not know, Moo, Paul, Linc, The fish, The Guinea pigs, The dogs, and heaps of their stuff have moved into our house, (dogs still to come) until they can find a new home - long story, tell Moo to blog about that (please rental gods get em a good one quick) love them all to death, but oooooo Mr L and Miss S this afternoon, you tested us out !!! Poor Jess, our adopted 20 year old daughter - Ha Jess no longer my teenage daughter (ps I would be very proud if my girls are as good as you when the grow up ;o) ) had to see first hand why you dont touch boys lol our house today, the best contraception EVER !

All I can say is, whoever invented the word, MUMMY MUMMY MUMMY in that whinning tone should be left in a room with 30 toddlers chucking a wally saying it at them ..........

calm zen, calm zen, breathe - I do love these cute little screwed up now runny nose tear covered faces, 2 hours of emotional tag team screaming, crying, sooking all over someone taking some toy or something or-other, oh my goodness !!! Will I make it through the terrible twos and stay sane??? this negotiating, constant talking, use your listening ears, use your words, not so loud, stop crying, if you need help - ask nicely, dont do that, blah blah blah is, well actually um rather horrible !!! Thankyou bed time (eventually) and QUIET....... A little chocky, red wine and cup of green tea are starting to take effect, smile coming, aarrhhhh there it is !!!  All of this enhanced with all of us under the one roof I know, but hooley dooley WOW, Im exhausted lol

How can these most delicious (Ha Pauly, I used 'delicious') little creatures have such moments of horror ?????  And then a split second later be so perfect and sweet ???

Well I have asked to feel every emotion at its max, another box ticked - man a hard one !!!

On a happy note, I made a yummy pumpkin curry for tea (thanks for the recipe Aunty Tuk, your thai time with me is awesome, must be due for some more !!!) all the washing got done (I dont know how many clothes Moo and Paul wear a day, but I given them rations from now on !!! lol) and the house is all tidy !    
 
Grateful moments today: quietness, being able to console my little nephew Linc ! and tucking my two yummy chickens in bed, with a forehead smooch.

Something learnt today: I really should have a early night, I really dont like toddler tantrums.

Priceless moment: Sophie: "Jess says Titans" Me:" I know she is naughty, she should go for the Bulldogs" Sophie: " We'll put her in the naughty corner" lol good idea Soph lol - not sure when you've been there of late, but we could try it on Jess !

Something I loved today: Evie in her minymo bunny jumpsuit and Jane fonder headband - cute, Seeing Sophie Persevere in getting her new kindy sandals on, even though it was a challenge.
The birds building the nest out the back are now sitting in in !!! exciting...

Miss S: very cute putting on her kindy backpack and getting her dress caught up showing her cute bottom in horsey undies, waving bye, pretending to go shopping out the back, then telling me "Im back, wanna cup of tea"

Miss E: Snuggles, giggles, eaten by sucking from the skin nearly a whole banana at only 4.5 mths old - clever pigglet - she fits right into to our foodie family ! belly laughs when you scare her - she is going to be a funny kid !

Scott: asleep again with Evie on the lounge, yep balancing half a drink, as usual lol - but home fairly early tonight - hopefully he has things all up and running on track now and can actually take some time off from travelling so much. And no Scott, no having, or blogging sexytime lol !!! Ha, he didnt think Id blog him saying that !!! lol

Lisa: I plan to eat better tomorrow, got to get back to my no sugar no carbs happiness - just hard starting !!! and Im going to do some work and not get sidetracked !!!! well fingers crossed !!!

Herbert House Happiness Rating: **** out of 10, well we did have toddler manic time this afternoon, and high five the awesome person who scratched my car at the supermarket carpark today - happy happy !!! But there is still Love and warmth in the home, so we will sleep tight and see tomorrow.....

Hello Herbert Happiness Blog

So there I was, sitting at my mac, when I should be in bed, my little girlies (as Scott calls them/us) were sound asleep, and I was being sidetracked by pretty things and clever people on websites. Scott was on the lounge asleep, as usual balancing a half cup of tea perfectly, in his pjs, and not so groovy slippers (he he he) when I was inspired by someone who had created a blog about their home renovations. I thought, I should do that, but one about our world, which is our home, uno the comings and goings of a crazy normal family! We have recently moved from the most beautiful home town ever, Coffs Harbour, to the Gold Coast Hinterland for Scott‘s work promotion, and I know the grandparents have heart pains that they cannot hug, see and play with the girls everyday, so this is a way to keep them closer. 

Its going to be nothing world changing, Im not a writer, or spelling champion, it will be probably like my cooking, homemade, borrowed recipes, rustic, ever evolving but full of love – mostly just about the little whisperings in my heart and soul, and the people that occupy them. After all, happiness is really about the little things….

“Today Sophie 2.5 years insisted on a Fishermans Friend lollie (current lolliaholic, thanks Poppy Stephen) uno the blow your head off, hot ones, to the point of a chuck myself on the floor screaming tantrum (thank you terrible two’s) this is nothing unusual, the real shock is that I gave in and let her. Don’t judge me too quick, it made her quiet, and she does LOVE mints, plus Ive learnt to choose my battles – today Ive decided on winning some other ones (thank you Julie Bailey for those words of wisdom when crisis is happening, I hear your calm voice saying, choose your battles for the ones that matter) ” thinking, ha this will teach you a lesson Miss I want my own way (nothing like her mother of course) however it backfired… “Mummy this is hot lolly” my face smiled and then I felt bad (oh yeh hot, hey – spit it out, I told you so, and oh my poor baby its knocking your socks off, quick have some water) then followed by “its ok mummy its not burning me now, can I have another one” AArrrhh lol not sure who taught who the lesson there lol Five minutes later Miss curly locks run by and gave me a squeezy hug and kiss on the lips with a “I love you mummy” then off wiggling her bottom, with a undie wedgey to ABCkids in her pink gumboots, on the wrong feet of course. Oh I so love you Sophie Alice, with all my being – except those horrible tantrum parts lol” Ok mum I know, I know – I did hope for a strong, clever girl – thanks for reminding me – can I endure it ??? lol !!!

“Hey Universe, if you can hear me up there, whoever is in charge, be it fairies, gods, or goddess’s, if you can hear me, please slow the time down. Little 4.5 month old Evie's soft, sweet little head fits perfectly on my shoulder, all snuggled in like a little bear. The second her little fingers wrap around mine, there is no wrong in the world. I cant stop looking at her chubby little fingers and wrists, her soft skin, satin blonde hair, and perfect button nose! I know I should put her in bed, its late and she is milk drunk fast asleep – but I cant move her off the breast feeding pillow on my lap, instead I awkwardly type over her sneaking little kisses every now and then ! She is growing WAY to fast !!! Today this sweet person showed me that funny face you make, when you taste strawberries for the first time and the tart hits before the sweet – so funny, she has also started growling like a koala, thinking the new sound is very clever, and laughing when I growl back at her - Oh, please let me remember these moments and the twinkle on her face always! These perfect blue eyed girls and every small moment around them have filled my heart with more joy, magic and love than I ever could have imagined ”

So why are we here, well I remember and love all about my childhood, and Im hoping that Miss S and Miss E will love this blog for the very same reasons, little insights to the past and what makes them who they are today, the moments that define things in our family, special family recipes and traditions, details about friends and the fun and laughter we had on the brick road we choose to travel. But mainly I really dont want to forget – things like: The sound of my daughter’s playing and laughing and singing in their perfect little girl voices, the words to Hot Dog, The Sweet and Kookaburra sits on electric wire. Those sounds will someday change as they grow, and  one day, it will be just me and my MOSTLY sometimes perfect Scott, as the girls go in the directions they have choosen, as much as I know I will love and hate that day, I am determined to remember the ones in between. This is why Im going to blog.

So this is our world, our home, where the stories begin, and this is where we will share it.
